Default Tour Pack Quick Release Kit

Hi there,

This is my first post. Fist off I haven't ridden in many years then my wife got me a 1996 Ultra Classic for my 50th last year which is my first Harley and I love it. As a project this year I want to fit it with a quick release for the tour pack. The problem is that all the available kits I've seen online only go back as far as 1997. My question is will it still fit a 1996? What's the difference? Is there a minor mod I can do to the kit to make it work? Any help is appreciated.

I've read that a lot of owners who have made their trunks removable have seldom or never taken their trunks off. Some have said they thought they would have taken it off more often but didn't, or it was a PITA to take it off and store it, etc. Just saying......

I've heard that too and also heard from some guys that they took it off and never put it back on. 99% of my riding will be short rides. I may end up removing it and not out a quick release on. For the once or maybe twice a year I may need it I can spend the half hour or so to put it back on. May just need to relocate a few things.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. Your bike is an Evo and you will find plenty of owners over in the Evo section - who've even cracked using later hardware for doing what you want. That doesn't include me, but the solution is not far away.....

The trunk is where I keep my helmets when parked somewhere away from my garage.

That's about all I use it for.

Welcome to the forum and I have to agree about rarely switching back and forth on a regular basis. Comes off in the spring back on to tour mid summer and usually keep it on after that. I like it the most for the lighting and speakers and storage last.
