In So. California most dealers you're lucky to get a Free Dealer T-Shirt.... And finding a MSRP dealer is also rare...
But if you look hard and don't mind a Drive - You'll find a MSRP Dealer & they through in 2 HD Helmets....
I believe in customer loyalty. I work parts at an HD dealer and the owners get upset when you don't push parts and make the sale. However, if I give the customer good advice on something, even if it means sending him somewhere else or pointing out a valid reason "not" to buy a certain product then I would hope that the customer would appreciate the response and continue to use the dealership.
I've purchased bikes from 3 different dealers - 1 was great, 1 was ok, and 1 didn't care whether I was there or not. Not one of them mentioned the survey or offered any incentives to fill it out. For me, it's all about the customer service for return visits. My local dealer is the bad one - went in to trade in my Heritage for an Ultra with bike and money in hand. I asked about different colors - he said "let me know when you make up your mind because I don't want to get another bike out of storage" - went back in his office and left me/wife standing on showroom floor. I didn't stand there very long - went to someone who treated me right and haven't been back to local guy.
DOes Harley do anything to correct the situation if you do complain?
No, they could care less.
I commented how disappointed I was in my guages filling with condensation every morning, rain or shine.
Told them the dealer told me this was a feature of the new models. Asked them to call me if I was
mistaken and this can be corrected. Never heard a word.

I don't know where you shop but almost all the dealers I visited before my purchase were MSRP. Except of course Skip Fordyce. He was over MSRP by $2K, and was proud to tell me they have never been an MSRP dealer. F'k 'em. I've never been an "over MSRP" customer. I bought elsewhere.
Fort Hood HD in Harker Heights, Texas----had 400 miles on the new scoot and was taking it in for the EFI recall---80 miles from the shop the scoot quit---wiring had brunt out on it---walked 6 miles back to the closest town and called them---they told me I was too far out and they could not come pick me up-----never again will I do business with folks like that----Bikers NEVER leave Bikers stranded-----------------please send me a survey
Nothing but the best so far. No issues, anything I did bring up was handled quickly and correctly. As far as a survey... I had bought 2 new rides and dont recall a survey.. would have been 10s...
Bought a brand spank new 2005 883L (hey I had twin newborns at home) from the local dealer. Would you believe they were $3000 above msrp and could not figure out why I was pissed when the sales guy brought these figures to me. I walked into the sales managers office told him if they ever wanted to sell me a bike, I would only pay msrp. They sold me the bike for msrp and I did all my service for two years. I got a good deal with them when I traded for my RoadKing, but man you have to be a real hard ankle to get them to give you a good deal.
Most of the guys I work with ride Harley's and own at least two or three, and they all refuse to buy anything from the local dealer as all that he is interested in is selling to all the local
doctors and lawyers who dress up on the weekend and play biker. Oh' and I suspect someone was outside shooting crack darts and hit me with one, I bought a service plan with them!
The stealers are all about selling! 90% of the showroom is Harley clothing (made somewhere and priced ridiculously!) and chrome stuff that is utterly worthless (and lots of non HD crap).
Service and maintenance are what I guage them on and 80 bucks to mount and balance a new front tires is outrageous! Oil changes? Ditto...one damn drain plug and a filter?
Nope...bought mine new, got a log book for records, and have my indy wrench do it all...he changed a front tire out for me a year ago and actually cleaned and polished both the rim and the INSIDE of the rim! He's a single man operation and slow as Hell because of it, but he charges a fair price for quality work and does not cut corners. (HD reused a primary gasket on one service...I know because I marked the edge of it with two yellow marks exactly 3" apart!)
Last tires I got at HD was a disaster! reused valve stems, left rubber lube all over both the tire and wheel! I bitched...my result? "Bring t in and we'll give you a free wash"> Sweet, huh? F**k 'em! Indy all the way!
