I use the Condor with dock plate mounted on the trailer floor with 4 straps. Works perfectly and there is zero movement. The Condor detaches easily from the dock plate for removal and storage. Great system for transporting bike.
Been using their trailer chock for years. I bolted mine down and used 4 straps every time. Why not?
The chock is now mounted on my Harbor Freight lift and works a helluva lot better than their vise.
I've got a nice finished floor with e Trac, I want to use the condor e Trac mounting bar but don't have time to get it before bike week. I don't want to drill my floor when I know I'm going to get the bar. That's why I called condor and ask about just putting the chock on the floor unmounted. Talked to several guys at the place where I purchased my trailer and they said people come in all the time with the condor in the trailer loose and never had a problem with it moving.
Bolt it down to be safe!
I did not have my condor bolted down, and one of the front straps failed.
When I disconnected the trailer, I had to wind up the trailer jack very high because my friends truck hitch was very high.
When I opened the trailer the next day, huge surprise!
I found my road king on it's side! Never thought that was possible with the way the chock is made, but it happened.
The trailer was on a slanted driveway, and jacking the trailer up to high, the bike fell over to the left side.
I was scratching my head wondering how the hell that could happen. It was the right strap that was loose, so it fell to the left. Never had a ratchet strap come unbuckled like that before.
I had 4 straps on it, but the front ones were not at a good angle so when the strap failed (probably previous to getting home), the bike slid back when I jacked up the trailer so high, and the side angle on the trailer was enough to tip the bike over.
Lesson learned, bolt it down!
Luckily it only broke the left mirror and screwed up the grip.
It had to happen when I disconnected the trailer because there were no rub marks at all on the wall where the handlebars rested, so it happened when I jacked the trailer up.
Bought the harbor freight chock, this thing is actually pretty heavy duty, I honestly don't see how the condor could be worth $200 more. I put a etrack hook on each side of the bike and just slide the chock up against them so it couldn't slide forward. I strapped the bike down on each corner and it was solid as a rock.
I use a wheeldock cause I have short legs and can't get it out of the condor. plus I can use it in my garage. didn't have to bolt it down either. cross strapped it in our toy hauler and then 4 straps on it just to be sure. mine never moved. by buddy bought the harbor freight one with there straps. went around the block as a test run. opened the door and his ultra was on it's side. cheap straps and wheel Chock. he bought way better straps the next day. took 8 straps on his bike to keep the harbor freight chock from moving around. i wasnt going to drill my toy hauler floor cause it's in the living area.
