Anyone have any suggestions on what to use to remove serious waterspots from paint and chrome? Left bike outside uncovered so roommate could work in garage while I was at work. Well, he set the sprinklers on and the bike got watered and sat outside in the sun all day. What a freakin' mess. I just got through polishing the bike last weekend too. Guess I am finding out why some say not to get to much chrome now.
I'm sure watching this post! We've got hard water here and washing the bike and the resulting water spots is an issue for me too. I've resorted to just washing small areas of the bike at a time so I can chamois the water off before it dries and leaves spots.
Get some Pledge furniture cleaner, whatever scent is to your liking. I use orange. Also get a microfiber cloth. Spray pledge on MF cloth and go to work onthe chrome. It will shine like no tomorrow when you are finished. oR you can use a quick mist detailer like s100 or any other brand. Or, you can try any other number of chrome cleaners.
I wash my entire bike all the time and I have a lot of chrome. The key is to dry the bike as fast as you can. I am looking into getting a m/c dryer. When I get water spots I use windex and a t-shirt on the chrome. Also you can use any cheap chrome polish on the chrome. It does not have to be expensive. It's going to shine regardless.
For the paint you can use a damp shamios and wipe the water spots off. Or you can use a t-shirt and polish, but I use a good quality polish on my paint.

Ok, I don't know if you guy's know this. Of course I can't speak for water sitting on the bike all night, butas soon asyou wash your bike, get your leaf blower and blow off your bike and that will take all the water off, also you can get inbetween your fins on the engine with the leaf blower and you won't have any water spots to mention. I blow it dry for about 10 minutes to make sure I get all the water off my bike and then I take a very soft cloth and wipe allthe chrome down. Doing this really makes the chrome shine. Hope this helps
I wash and wax mine at the same time. The wash I use has wax added to it. I do little bit at a time and then get the leaf blower to drive the water off and dry it. I use SOS pads on the white walls, I tend to do them last. I jack up the bike to spin the wheels as I clean the white walls, rinsing as I clean. When I'm finally done I get the leaf blower again and hit it hard. I've never timed it, but I think it takes at least an hour to do the whole cleaning job.
And then, as luck would have it, the rains the next time I go riding and I get to do it all over again. [:@]
