Default Blowout

My Lieutenant and his wife left Saturday on their annual pilgrimage to the Motherland of Texas. They got about four hours from home when the rear tire on their Ultra blew. The Lt., who is also a motor officers, was able to decrease speed from 70 to about 40 before he lost control. They went down. He got a broken wrist and ribs. His wife got all her ribs on one side broken. They are out of the hospital now and are back home. I don't know what caused the tire to fail. He is **** about keeping his equipment in top condition. But, at least they are alive!

I blew a tire at 70, two up. Something I hit on the road cut the tire. We were loaded. I was able to bring it to a stop safely. The back does dance, just get off the throttle and let it slow, no brakes at all until it is about to stop rolling.

That is a problem we all face. Next time someone wants to see how fast their bike will run, think about what's gonna happen if a tire blows. Just a thought - scarey, huh?
