Blowout
had a - not necessarily a blowout as the tire was still usable - but a very quick leak. was doing about 70 down I65 with to-be-wife and camping equipment, etc. wanted to check the temp of the engine because of the load so i slipped off my left glove. engine was fine. i was slipping the glove back on, tricky at best. had a full face on. glove was half way on. front end started to wobble. semi in front, semi in back, semi to the left. slowly released the gas - no brake. went on the shoulder at around 30-40. started to really wobble around 20. applied breaks at slow speed. tire was flopping all over. removed the wheel, went to gas station and had a plug put in. i carried an extra inner tube. i also had the seal junk in the tire.
skill - nope - lucky
i have heard that the seal junk in the inner tube is okay, but does cause a balancing issue. also the seal junk should not be used in tubeless as it can get all over and doesn't really work. wish i could find where it said that.
i am researching run flat tires for bikes - if i get anything interesting i will pass it on
Second - You are a much braver man than me - To slip off one glove and check the engine temp then try and slip that gove back on all with a simi in front, back and to your side...
Glad you were able to keep upright - I will be checking out those PD tires...
They are not weight rated to carry a passenger. If a dealer puts a passenger pillon on a decommissioned police bike they take off the cop tires because of this.
