hi guys. on a 2010 roadking behind the forks under the headlight, there is a plug. The housing to this plus appears to be broken so when you plug the male part in, it doesn't make a good connection and when you touch it, all the lights go off. It's like it triggers a relay. There appears to be a loop wire at the end, a jumper for some reason. I dunno what that's for.
Also the extra driving lights, I can't get them to come on at all. Are they on a separate circuit?
There is a toggle switch on the back of the headlight, doesn't seem to do anything but I suspect this is there because it was a cop bike.
Toggle switch is for accessories if you use them. It would run anything you wire to the accessory plug/circuit. To fix that plug, get a new plug receptacle from dealer
do you think it's because of this plug that the lights kick on and off?
- is this a matter of cutting that plug out and soldering on a new plug? or do I need a whole new wiring harness.
-- ok I found that they wired the driving lights into one of the "red cop switches" thats why they would not go on.

At the risk of feeling like I write this in way too many posts here goes.
Buy yourself a factory service manual. It will be invaluable.
As for the plug, no soldering required. All HD plugs disassemble, instructions in the FSM. Any tools for r & r of the plug can be found easily enough on Amazon or eBay for not much.
