Should be an 88" "A" engine.

This would be an 88" motor. The 6th letter in the Vin is the second half of the Model designation. An FC would be an FLHTCUI or FLHTCU. The 7th digit should be a V or a W depending of if it was fuel injected or carbed

Wink

If you go to the H-D website and find the Owners tab you can enter your VIN and get details of the spec of your bike at the time it was built. The link BB59 gave also decodes your VIN. As an '01 it was definitely an 88" twincam when new, although what spec it is at today may be quite another matter!

Just as an aside, OP, generally, big twin Harley engines are referred to in cubic inches, not in cc's...Sportsters are defined in the metric system.

Here in the UK we're ambidextrous - we call them by both!

Yeah, but we're ambidextrous at doin' that too - what with Europe just a short trip away. We've even shipped our Harley 'back home' and ridden it on your roads - with our fingers crossed!!!!
