These bikes are not V-8s! As mentioned, they need to run at higher revs than it seems you are using, when you should find it is a much sweeter ride.

Depending on storage and age the motor mounts could be hard as a rock.

On further investigation the rear tire has been changed recently to an American Elite. I have ordered the American Elite for the front as well. Not riding until tire situation is corrected. Quick question on rear shocks on the classic.. What is the reason for the lower seat height on the classic compared to the standard FLHR. Does the classic come with the low profile shocks or is it a difference in the seats. Spec show seat seat height on classic at 26.9 and 27.3 on the FLHR. .Thanks for all your inputs'

They both have 13" shocks. The classic seat is a bit lower than the FLHR seat.
