Extra Wires ???
Yesterday afternoon, I put in a new LED headlight and new LED passing lamps. I notice that the connector that plugs into the headlight not only has the 3 wires in the loom (which were spliced bach together), but there were 2 other wires that I noticed that were in the wrap or loom that were not hooked to anything and had spade female connectors on the ends. The previous owner had LED under bike lighting and I am thinking that this was a half a$$ed rigged setup to power those. I should of took them out and soldered / heat shrunk the 3 headlight wires, but I taped them good with 3M electrical tape and put everything back together.
My question, has anyone ever seen 2 extra wires in the loom that powers the headlight just hanging loose close to the headlight connector? If my back was not killing me yesterday, I would of traced the wires. Gosh, I hate half a$$ed wiring.....I will probably tear into everything this next winter and redo the wires when the Harley in in hibernation mode.

I can't answer your question, but there are wiring diagrams in the service manual. Also, if you haven't done so, you can create an account on the H-D website and bring up your bike's wiring diagrams in the owner's section..

If memory serves me correctly those wires are for hooking up an accessory, lower voltage I think. On international bikes they are used but US bikes they are not. I am sure someone will chime in with a more technical description. Put a volt meter on them and turn your ACC switch on, should have power i believe.

BINGO!!! I think you are 100% correct. I just checked the service manual and it shows those wires. And tracing it back it shows to an acc switch. I will heat shrink on them since the rubber covers are somewhat weathered / cracked.
