Thanks for all the reply's. All I had to do was read the frequently ask questions on the web site to answer my own question.

I crossed on the Badger two years ago. They do not supply tie downs and checked prior to boarding if you were equipped. One of the riders was not in possession of tie downs and it was indicated that he could not board the ferry. Another rider and I had more than required for our rides and shared which allowed the rider to board. I used 3 tie downs, 2 on my bike and 1 on my trailer which was sufficient. They suggest 2 for the bike, but I noted one bike with a single tie down strap tethered to two points on the floor and tied in to the fork brace.
It was a memorable crossing/experience and the weather could not have been any better. A beautiful clear day with calm water.

Take tie downs along with "Soft Straps" if you have them ... We angle parked into a "rack" and tied them down ... The Badger is a slow steady ride with very few amenities but they get the job done

First time crossing the lake express this summer. Just checked and they are the ones that provide straps. Chose LE do to it being in line to mount Rushmore. Figured I'd make the crossing at least once in my life. Couple more months can't wait.

Did the lake express a couple years ago, they had ratchet straps but most were crap. Take your own I used two in the front and one through the back wheel.

I've done the Lake Express ferry a few times and yes they provide straps and they were just fine. Never done the SS Badger but wouldn't mind trying it for something different.
