Did you come from a 103? Something mechanical you didnt like about it?
last bike had a 95" tc in it. Its not that i didnt like the m8, its just not impressive like people are screaming. It was the same with the 103ho. People fussing "ohhhh, best hd motor ever! Perfection! So much more!" It was like 2 ft pounds or something. The m8 is the same way. Look at a stock dyno pull, its got like 2ft lbs and 1 hp over the 103ho. Yes ive riden it, yes i can afford it, it just doesnt impress me.
Fair enough. I think thats a fair comment. Thanks for the input. I ride a 103 currently and I adore it. Ill definately give the RG a good test ride before hand.
I had a bagger with a 103 and it ran great, albeit HOT. My new 17 M8 is the coolest motor I've ever had in a Harley. Also, the torque seems more usable on the M8...It doesn't complain if you twist the grip at 2000RPM.
Everybody has one...
Cool temps r nice, especially since i ride in city.
so i ride 80% city, and 20% weekend rides on the hwy.
is the RG too much bike for mostly city riding if im doing this for my daily commuter monday to friday? Cant tell from just 1 test ride whether riding this daily in stop and go traffic to work and back would be too cumbersome?
Are you looking at a Special or an Ultra? I have a '17 RGS, and have also ridden the Ultra. Special is a bit more nimble in town, but either would be a great bike.
Do yourself a favor... Read through the M8 forum... Take it with a grain of salt because it is an internet forum, but there is a lot of info...
I have rode the M8's and have a modded to the hilt '09 Ultra. There isn't enough difference between my modded '09 and a '17 or '18 to warrant $20K (or more) + my bike.

Im kind of thinking hd had to up the power on the m8 because of the epa. In the past people didnt really care because you could make it right. I feel like if hd put out a product that ran just ok and couldnt fix it it would have driven away customers at a way faster pace than theyre already leaving. Power and reliability wise i dont see an advantage to the m8. Its an emissions thing. Same power and being epa compliant.
