Default 2017 Road Glide Reviews and Issues

Hi all, looking for some input from you. I'm looking to purchase a 2017 used Road Glide.

I currently own a Dyna done up to the **** with suspension mods (ohlins) and a bunch of custom stuff. I've been riding for about 15 years (sportbikes for most of my life). I'll do my basic oil maintenance but anything more than that I will use an independent wrench.

My question to you guru's:

Has there been any known issues with 2017 RG's?
- Eg. premature wear? (eg. the Dyna has a known issue with the front engine mount wearing fast)
- Any known problems with the engine or cooling?
- Vibration issues?
- Any recommended proactive maintenance / flaws to the 2017 RD's?
- How is the suspension? Do many of you upgrade or are you happy with the stock setup? (for Dyna's the stock suspension is really bad, most of us have upgraded to aftermarket)
- As a city rider, any issues clearing hard right turns on hills? Bottom out/scratch? I realize a lot of this is technique. I live in city with lots of hills in the city like San Francisco
- Any electronic issues? (I likely won't use the Navi)
- Wind buffing a common issue?

I realize this is a long list of questions, any input on any of these queries would be greatly appreciated! I love my custom dyna, so I just want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into.

If there is anything I missed, feel free to throw down your opinions. I would love to hear all perspectives before I make my jump away from my Dyna to a Road Glide. I realize no bike is perfect, so just trying to be an educated buyer.

The primary reason I'm going to RD is that the speed factor is no longer something I desire, and I just want to be sitting on a nice comfy couch listening to some tunes and have good wind protection for my city and hwy rides. I still own sportbikes so I can always rely on those for some quick fun. Some may call my transition as getting old...I call it getting lazy. lol

...... i'd call it a 'natural progression'
.... don't overthink it, just buy the Road Glide ... the M8 rocks
.... ...... ride it hard and love it !

Agree with above. Great bike. This is my 3rd Road Glide and much better than the previous two.

The suspension sucks I’m stock form. But if you spend 1200-1500 can get a nice ride

The suspension although not great sure beats anything put on any previous years models. And I paid $820 TTD for Pro Action rear shocks but only because I am impulsive and a financial idiot.

Sounds like suspension is a mixed bag. Ill allocate some funds for a new suspension then. Along with any other input on other things?

In addition, how doesna detachable backrest work? On my dyna it was a bit of a hassle cause i had to change add the quick disconnect bolts that mount in my fender. Are the RG 2017 designed already with the quick detach option installed and all i have to do it buy the detachable rails that attach to the sissy bar/backrest and voila?

Also, is there an option to buy a detachable setup that also can mount a trunk behind the bars? Harley make something like that for the quick detach bar setups for the RG?

thx.

Yeah I have the 2015 SG and buddy has the 2018 RG with the preimum shocks and can't tell a big difference. But I hear those pro actions are nice. I have been looking at the Bitubos based off price and DK customs says that they are just as good if you read the descriptions on the shocks depending on how you ride and your weight etc.

But yes allocate some for suspension but once you do the rear youre gonna notice how harsh the front feels.

Also, adding a nice set of slipons always makes the bike sound a lot better
