Default Help clutch routing

Looking for some pictures routing the clutch line.
Installing 10" khromewerks on my 2013 FLHCTU. Every post I read said that stock clutch will fit, just needs a little "re-route" to work. I can't seem to find the routing that works well since I'd rather not pinch the wire in the sleeve. I know there are quite a few guys who've put 10" bars on without new cables, do you have some pics? It would be greatly appreciated.

Not all 10" bars are the same shape, so it is quite possible that the stock cable will not work with yours. You can however use the stock cable to establish how much longer a cable you need that will actually work well.

My solution has always been to install a clutch cable that allows routing in where it’s meant to be routed. It’s a safety issue to me. That’s my opinion.

Were it me, I’d pay the extra $30 and get an HD 38649-08A cable. That should give you the little extra oomph

If it were me I would look at it as an opportunity to install stainless steel cable and brake line.

Exactly. Why expend so much effort to keep those hideous cables, and just to have them stretched to the max. Buy what you need, make it look good and ride proud. Sheesh.

Actually, I am going to put in a new cable. But needed a temporary fix for a couple rides coming up and a fluid dump. Figured may as well do it when the trans is empty anyway. But for the time being managed to get it run. It's tight, but there's full range of movement without it binding up. Meanwhile the new cable is on order. Just all a pain in the *** since even the techs from khromewerks said it would work with stock just fine. All in all, just happy to have some bars that actually help and not hurt me further.

That's an excellent opinion. I'll add that I like to take two bites of the apple when changing bars...get the bars on the bike is the first bite. Second bite is figuring out what you need, ordering it, then finish it up.

Yep, gonna take a few days longer, but less problems in the main.

I've been tinkering with bikes in general and Harleys in particular for many decades. I no longer believe those sorts of promises, as reading HDF and elsewhere there are plenty of owners who can't make them work, or are not happy with the result. I have ample experience of doing similar jobs and finding I get tripped up along the way! Sounds as if you're on the right track.

I installed Wild One 10 inchers and had to figure a way to gain a couple inches. Some on forum suggested routing it outside of the fairing between the tank and inner fairing. I wanted to have it go through the original hole in fairing, so pulled outer fairing to take a look. Noticed right away that the cable was routed around the back side and over the top of the stereo. I just ran it under the stereo and out the designated hole in fairing and gained about 3 inches. Easy peasy!
