...and maybe its not suppose to. I have the tank off, plugs out, no exhaust on(therefore no O2 sensors plugged in). I put in a set of cams a couple weeks ago, just changed all fluids, tins are off for paint. I thought I would just turn it over a few times prime the system, since its been sitting for a year. When I went to engage starter, it gave one split second attempt to turn over and stopped. Now I get nothing on re-attempts. Was wondering if anyone knows if there is some sort of system protection so it wont start? I don't really want to go reassemble everything now and find out I have an issue that requires taking **** back off. I can turn the motor over just fine in high gear while turning back tire.
I have a Powervision ready to up load a basetune from dynojet, haven't really played with it yet. I suppose I could read DTC and see what it says.
Any insight?
Battery is charged right up,,,on a tender right now. just checked, 13.3v with no tender attached. Battery was brand new when I parked it. There was a DTC for EFI. I cleared codes, will see what happens now.
Still nothing, I do hear a faint clicking down by the starter. Which is starter relay. I think I found the issue. Pretty sure its bad ground. I powder coated inner/outer primary cases, need to do a bit of sanding. Starter bench tests just fine. And I was getting good voltage to solenoid when I pressed started button. And I'm also glad I had this issue cause someone forgot to put an o-ring on starter where it enters the inner primary housing.
I'll update thread later if I find out my problems are solved, will have to get o-ring in a couple days.

If you're confident it isn't a mechanical locking issue regards the cam install then hold your voltmeter across the battery terminals whilst attempting to turn the bike over and see if the voltage drops down.
Confirm that battery connections are tight.
It may be worth getting the battery properly load tested to 100% confirm its condition and take it out of the equation of causing the problem.
Considering the plugs are out, the starter should have no trouble turning the bike over to oil prime the engine.
There is no safety feature in your instance to stop the bike turning over.
As a quick test, you could try using a wire directly off of the battery positive terminal to the small green wire connector on the starter to eliminate the starter circuit as being a cause of your issue. If that turns the engine over then it highlights an issue somewhere in the starting circuit.
