Regulator ? Heat grips ?
hey guys... battery 2 years old.. 18000 on bike... runs great , starts strong with no apparent charging problems.. however lately my factory heated grips will go from warm to smokin hot ( all settings the same ) to warm again.. only hot one day last week in mountains...then one day engine and batt light came on and soon as grips were turned off, lights went out... next day grips barely warm but no lights... then last day when grips were turned on volt meter dove to 10 and both lights came on... when grips were turned off lights went out and volts quickly went back to 14 where it always is... what u thinkin ?

My 2012 Road Glide is on its 3rd VR, which was replaced the last time (hopefully) probably 4 years ago. The 12's were known for having a bad run of VR's, so while that may not be your problem, it's a safe place to start after you've checked battery connections, of course. There was in fact a recall on them.

just pulled code 562 off bike and mistakenly cleared it... goin to dealer tomorrow to see if connection is bad somewhere but now that code is gone....who knows what they will say
Here in Northern Nevada I always had heated grips installed on the Bike befor pickup.
On my 14 FLHX the left controller grip had to be replaced under warranty, shorted out.
It did like you said, got hot, got warm, and then cold.

just back from dealer.. of course everything checks out perfectly.. tech called me back and showed me all meters hooked up and all is perfect... could not get problem to duplicate and code 562 means nothing unless he sees where its coming from... makes sense...figures.. grips were nice and hot on way home today and volts holding at 14 with no engine..batt lights... this only happens so far anyway when outside temps are cool... gonna ride every day for awhile and leave grips on.. when lights reappear i will cruise right into dealer again.. he says he wont charge me another diagnostic.. who knows ? frustrated... might just change out regulator myself anyway just as a prevent.. but dont see how this would affect the grips..darn electronics
