Default Road King tool kit?

Blows my mind that Harley doesn't include a basic tool kit with the bike heh. Is there a decent emergency kit somewhere? Maybe the Harley one? Also, is there somewhere to put it other than the saddle bags? They seem to get pretty full pretty fast with jacket, rain suit, blah blah etc?

Those actually look pretty cool, mounted upside down to fill in the "stretched" portion of the RKS bags. Id really like to find something that doesnt take saddlebag space though. Maybe mounts on the saddle bag crash bar, under the seat, front chin area, I dont know. Somwhere heh.

I have the bags from e-glide goodies...they fit right nice in the bottom of the bags. As far as tools...go on line and look around at what they have to offer.... I would get a screw stick with changeable bits, the torx and hex bits that fit your controls and any other accessories. 10mm wrench for your battery. and probably 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16. I am fortunate that I was a mechanic and raced dirt bikes. I have plenty of tools. I sat in the garage one rainy day and went around looking at different things on the bike, thinking of problems I might have on the road, and pulling various wrenches and tools out and made a pile. I don't have everything you might need, but there is enough that may save a trip. Spend some time walking around the bike and look before you spend your hard earned cash!! I love tools so this is a treat and not a chore!!! Let us know what you do.....

Saddle bag guard bags would provide storage outside of the saddle bags.

I have a Windzone....these used to be like $50, keep an eye out. Even though it has tools I already own, its nice to have in a 'separate' kit I can throw in the saddlebag and not be digging in my toolbox before each trip assembling an array to take. Need to bring torx separate of course.....any other 'big' tools i need on the road I'd just purchase on the road.

Windzone Toolkit - Amazon Windzone Toolkit - Amazon

I carry a CruzTOOLS Roadtech H3 - and I just added a couple of small things to it. A small little drawstring bag with a few more sockets and torx bits. I also have a spool of wire and some zip ties. You'll almost never use your tool kit, but when you do, it'll save your a$$.

That's a GREAT suggestion! I would have never thought of that. That bag is big enough to hold all the critical tools you need.

Made my own tool kit an used it often on a bobber shovel I had and used it once since putting it in the saddle bag on my '10 RK to fix a friends loose battery cable. I sure am glad they "don't make them like they used to"

Agreed. One on each side might not look too bad with the special, it should blend right in. Just a little basic tool kit for tightening loose screws or jumping the bike etc on one side, little first aid kit or jump box on the other.
