Bob, "TURBO TURTLE" and a couple of others gave me their thoughts of how this could happen to a very experienced rider. I do thank you though for at least reading my post.

Only suggestions we can give has already been given, apply less force to the brakes (unless in emergency stopping then use both brakes); change brake fluid and pay better attention to what is in\on the road, what were the weather\road conditions; or check the tires, as this is an 06 of unknown mileage the tires could be 13 years old if they are still factory stock (old tires get hard and don't grip nowhere near as well, additionally different tires grip the road differently). The only other piece of advise I can give is to check the front wheel bearings, they are not likely to have failed but if you want a culprit this can be one possibility.
