I just added the HD set to my EGS. I like the 'deflection' these give....doesnt 'lift' my ciggies out of my pocket....also the 'updraft' would really dry my eyes out. So far...no complaints. The last time I road in the rain, the mist came from below. I found that if I held my arm across my body about mid-torso level, the updraft stopped....as did the mist. Havent tried these in the rain yet...but the 'arm' test didnt change anything after adding them..so I feel it's money well spent.
What is the advantage/disadvantage of adding the Fairing Air Deflectors? I experience some helmet buffeting at highway speeds and wonder if these will reduce that. Anyone ride at highway speeds with and without them?
If you are getting helmet buffeting I would suggest the fork baffle. I have a set of the fairing air deflectors but hardly ever put them on. I am using the fork baffle and the chrome fork air deflectors and am very happy with the amount of wind it has cut down on. Sometimes too much.
Well I bought the Freedom Wings and rode 300 miles this weekend with them on. This is a very nice product. When it was cool or running at high speeds I closed them. The helmet buffeting was all but gone and they kept the cool air off my knees and torso. When I was running low speeds in hot weather I opened them up for a refreshing blast of air. The unlimited adjustability of these made getting just the right mix easy. I highly reccomend these over the HD fixed version.
