Default Hidden antenna static question

I did some work to mine over the winter. Ended up deciding on hidden antenna in the fairing. Went with the J&M passive and for the most part I am happy with it. The reception is pretty good for the most part but I noticed something really odd yesterday. I have static, sometimes just a tiny bit but yesterday it would overpower the radio itself. If I took my left hand off the bar the reception was crystal clear.
So last night after work I went out and played some more. Sure enough, any time I hear a little static, if I take one of my hands off the bar it becomes instantly clear.

I don't get that at all. I am wondering if one of the powered preamp antennas would eliminate this. Or perhaps I have a ground issue somewhere?

Thoughts?

Probably just where it's placed in the fairing. I have had a hidden antennae for years, its a sticky type that I have stuck to the left inner fairing. No problem riding but if I walk around the left side of the fairing, static. Try relocating your antennae, if possible. Also make sure its fully plugged in the radio or harness.

That is possible. Mine is the J&M that loops up around inside the fairing and just sticks in place. Maybe it needs some rerouting. I was just thinking that maybe one of the powered preamp antennas would be grounded or isolated.

Take your digital watch off your left hand.

I don't wear a digital but I do wear a watch and curiously it does seem to be more affected with my left hand than my right so I had considered if the watch played a part. It is an all steel Citizen
