2014 FLHTK Starter
I have the battery on a trickle charger and it reads fully charged. Trying to start it there is a clicking noise coming from the primary and it's been hard to start for a few months. Even though the battery reads 13.2 on the volt meter can it still not have enough juice to turn the motor over or is there something else possibly wrong? , .
I had the same problem a few months back. I swore the battery was fine, that it must be a problem with the starter. I even tried jumping it... no go. Changed the battery and she fired right up. The H.O. has a higher compression and is not very forgiving of a weak battery. Try swapping out a friends battery if you can, that should make the diagnosis easy.
With all the fuses, and switch's that are on the new Twin's, I suggest to anyone that has a Harley V-Twin,that you invest in a starter solenoid engagement button. It's a easy install, and it has saved my rear end on many occasion. Be it a bad starter switch,or blown fuse,or weak battery, with the button, what's in your battery goes direct to your starter, It's old school but still work's as fine as they ever did.
