I am assuming you meant 12.8

Nope, battery out of bike, 11.8v. Left it at the shop to charge overnight and retest. I'm hoping the damn stator isn't trying to go south on me.

That's likely not enough voltage to start your bike.

If at 11.8, it checked fine on the load tester, you also need a new load tester.
However, only a fully charged battery should be load tester.

Right, which is why it's getting a low amp charge overnight and retested tomorrow. My load tester is a cheap-o, it very well may be garbage. This battery is on the very bottom of its range anyway. It may not be accurate that far down. I'll get it at least charged and started, or even jump started tomorrow and check out the rest of the charging system while I'm digging around. A 5mo old battery shouldn't need charging after sitting in a bike for 36hrs after running.

Right, I understand ... but as you know, it appears your bike may not be charging. So once you do get it started, check it with a good digital voltage meter to ensure you have above +13v with activity from RPM increase / decrease.

That's the plan. Hopefully everything's alright. I'd rather be riding this time of year than working on this damn thing...

Each 'cell' of your battery, when fully charged produces 2.2vdc. Multiply that by the number of cells (6) = 13.2vdc. (fully charged).

Thats interesting. I have never seen a 12 volt battery much above 12.8 (most are around 12.6) after being taken off a charger and the lights turned on for a few seconds to kill the 14.8 volt or so charger residual voltage.
