Exclamation Vehicle Speed Sensor

Hey ya'll, bike is a 2007 FLHTCU.

I'm in desperate need of some help. I need to know voltage wise what I should be seeing from my VSS. I will attach a picture of the wiring diagram as well.

I am getting a reading of 5v off of red/white wire, 5v off of white/green wire and good ground off of black/green wire.

Are those appropriate values? I feel like one of those should be 12v but I don't know for sure. On the wiring diagram, it says that both of those should be 5v? I'm chasing a non functioning speedometer issue for awhile and I'm getting very frustrated. The lights come on the speedometer, need moves when I turn the bike to run and the mileage shows but it does not register my speed and it does not measure actually milage (I put it on trip, rode around the block a few times and it still registered 0.0 miles.)

I replaced the VSS a bit early, pulled it today and the thing was pristine. Could it actually be the speedometer itself? I had also gotten a code of U1016 -loss of ECM serial data. I have checked that wire and I find it weird that my speedometer isn't working but my tachometer is. Please help!

A bad speedometer will cause the code.

I can't find any voltage values listed in my manuals but it looks like the ECM feeds 5V to the VSS on the R/W wire. If it only gets 5V then I don't expect any more than 5V coming out of it on the W/GN wire.
Anyway this is what I found for DTC U1016 in the 2006 (yes I know you have a 2007) Elec Diag Manual. Hope it helps. It does show that 3 different fuses (Battery, Instruments, & Ignition) are all needed to make everything work.

Decided to say f it, bought yet another speed sensor. Plugged it in, buttoned the bike up and viola, EVERYTHING WORKS.

Moral of the story, don’t assume that the part you buy from the stealership is good. Unfortunately.

Did they let you return the bad one? Or because it's an electrical part, you had to eat it? At least you got it fixed!
