Noticed last night that my brake lights are not coming on when I hit the levers. YIKES!!! I have the Aux brake light/turn signal conversion kit on it as well as the new tri-bar light kit that I put on about a month ago. The running lights are on but the brake lights don't shine when I apply the brakes.
Take out the running light/stop light module and try it. I'll bet that's the problem. Sometimes they last for years, sometimes only days. A buddy of mine had his go out on him this past weekend.
I'll second checking that conversion kit. I bought one from the MoCo. I put it on and was checking it in the garage. I smelled something electrical. I took the seat back off and found the plugs melting. That kit was faulty.
DITTO ....
The only other problem I have had with those units is I put on an OLDER model.
The one that had the STOP ONLY & TURNfunction to the rear turn signals.
It blew out on my Wife's 07 SG
I called HD coustomer service and asked if there was any known problems.
They said "YES" .....
Something about the older ones having a analog signal and the newer bikes
run digital signals. So I am most likely going with the Biketronics model.
Rob .....
Thanks guys. I'll check the conversion kit first. Hopefully it is something that simple. Riding around northern NJ without brake lights is a scrary proposition.
Took the seat off to check the adapter. No dice. Took the brake lens off to check connections. No dice. Turned out to be the brake lamp fuse. Replaced, tested a few times while putting everything back together. Worked Fine. Tested it one last time once everythiing was back together and the fuse blew again! Dammit!Gotta be a short somewhere. It's a 15amp fuse so I can't imagine the tri-bar would be overdrawing the circuit.Going to the dealer now anyway to finalize the purchase of a DynaGlide for the girlfriend. As you can imagine, they're being very friendly right now. Gotta use that to my advantage!
Put some LED Lights in it, The Conversion puts less Voltage to the lights and they can't take the lower power to them, They give up over time....Use the LED's, They Don't need as much Voltage...Hope this helps..
