Been with my wife for 20 yrs (married for 16) and I think she has been on my bike maybe three times. Could understand it when I rode crotch rockets, who likes to be a passenger on those? Had a couple of standards and now my RG. You guys that have wives wanting to ride have it made, I would love it if she actually said "hey let's go for a ride". She has been an ER nurse for the last 20 yrs and seen alot of donor cycle riders after the accident, so that doesn't help.

When I sold my last ride it was my wife who had tears in her eyes as the new owner rode it down the driveway. Now with the King and the sun shinning I never have to ask her twice to go on a ride. And it's always nice to reach behind you a quick little bit of momma. My most memorable rides have been sitting on the side of the road broke down, in a rain, wind, or snow storm. The nice weather rides when everything goes good are a dime a dozen.

I am one of the lucky ones - my wife loves to ride on the back of my Ultra. She has no desire to drive which I am happy about. Not sure what bike a 5' 0" tall lady of 100 lbs could handle. Nice part is she is small enough I never know she is behing me and I block most of the rain since I am 6'4" and 230 lbs.

She suggests a ride through the country as often as I do. Only difference is she likes to have a destination in mind where I would prefer to just find a new road and see where it ends up.

Ever since my wife started riding with me it is hard to get a chance to ride by myself. Many times I have tried to sneak out for a quick ride by myself, only to have my wife come running out to the garage with her helmet yelling wait for me!

My wife went on her first long ride with me yesterday. Only second time she has been on my Harley. Now she loves it.

I belong to a motorcycle club who wifes ride with them a lot, especially on the longer trips. I am glad my wife will go with me now, makes it more enjoyable with her along.

I can still go for a ride with the boys when I want.

Best of both worlds.

My wife now wants here own bike. In time, she will get one, but I still have a lot to do with mine.We are both round as well. We were a little cramped with the stock bars, but now that I have added apes, and pushed them a bit forward, the seems to be gobbs of room. You might think about a bar swap.

Call me crazy, but I like the stock custom bars. We aint too tight on it, two up. I am a bit farther forward than I usually sit. I might have to adjust the highway pegs a touch when she rides with me.

Moving the backrest was the best thing. I made all new mounts out of the stock mounting hardware. I have had guys at the dealer looking over my set up and taking measurements.

I can probably gin up some pictures if you want a bit more room.

Some of the most memorable rides are through storms...you never say " do you remember the ride when it was 80 and sunny?" You say " Remember that ride throught the storm and how wet we got?"
You are correct. We've gone on multiple rides with my brother & his wife. The ones we remember the most are some to Darlington.

1st - 3 of us guys stopped at restaurant on way back and let wives meetup with us for dinner. Parked on a grassy spot and went inside. Didn't know that about time we come back out, the automatic sprinklers would be kicking in. You should have seen us 3 trying to run around and get bikes moved.

2nd - Rained(slight drizzle) about 3/4 of the ride there. Got there are we're sitting in restaurant and I'm asleep at table after we eat.

I'd rather ride 50 miles with my wife on back than 200 by myself.

Moving the backrest was the best thing. I made all new mounts out of the stock mounting hardware. I have had guys at the dealer looking over my set up and taking measurements.
I did something similar. If you look at the rear mount, there is another hole below it in the bracket. I drilled a new hole between the one you're supposed to use and the one at the bottom. I used the strap that runs from the front to the rear mount as a guide. It changes the angle of the backrest slightly, sorta rotates it down and back. To look at it, you can't tell anything has been changed but we gained about another 1.25" of space. For us it was a nice modification for just drilling a hole.

I had a similar experience to yours with my wife. She wasn't 100% in favor of the motorcycle until she took that first ride and then she was hooked. Had the RK two weeks and we took an overnight trip, got caught in rain most of the way home. I expected to catch an ear full at our first stop but when I asked her if she wanted to wait a while to see if it would let up, she said "Keep riding, it's only water". And that was before we had bought rain gear. Congrats on the new riding partner.
