I am 6 ft 210 and a little round and the wife is shall we say a little larger than she would like to be. I bought a sporty after asking several times if she would ride, she said NO. Well the next thing you know she is riding in local poker runs with me and finally last year she road with me on a 500 mile weekend trip. Aside from the weather not cooperating, we felt like we joined the iron butt club. That was pretty much the last time she was on the bike. I purchased a 07 Road Glide last week and she has already planned a trip to the mountains this weekend.

I can't wait to do two things. Spend some quality time with my wife and bike. I will let you know how it comes out!
My wife rode on the back of my bike for over 13 years and 90,000 miles. She loved every ride, rain or shine. Then she decided she wanted to experience it from the front. She got a 2004 Sportster and has put over 6,000 miles on it in the last year. She rides to work daily if possible and we go for rides on weekends. since last year she has only rode with me 2 times. I kinda miss her back there some times but I just check my right mirror and there she is. She is turning into a very good rider.
I call my wife the "Safety ****", anything that is even remotely daring, she will avoid.
That said, I have managed to get her on the Ultra a couple times for short rides around town (10 minutes).
She suprised me this year when she said she would go on a day trip to Laconia. I live about 75 miles away so it was a perfect first trip. She claimed she had a good time and would do it again. Of course that may have something to do with the fact I have a HOT, single neighbor who loves motorcycles and would ride with me anywhere.
Glad to hear that you have a new riding partner. Some of the most memorable rides are through storms...you never say " do you remember the ride when it was 80 and sunny?" You say " Remember that ride throught the storm and how wet we got?"
If whe handled the first storm, go out and get her some rain gear - ride safe!
You better patient it, sounds like those dealers guys might want to sell it to harley!

Moving the backrest was the best thing. I made all new mounts out of the stock mounting hardware. I have had guys at the dealer looking over my set up and taking measurements.
I can probably gin up some pictures if you want a bit more room.
I have to say/ wife told me my rides are to early an d if I went on one later she would go, well that day came and we did 165 miles and dinner on the lake, she loved the ride but her complaint was her legs a re to long and she was cramped on my Ultra. Trying to check some options but she is not a rider and I am ordering matching helmets
