I looked at cutting out the cat on the stock pipes, seems easy enough and I know how to weld so no problems getting it done. I did see that if you cut the cat the bike may need a re-map so would you say to look at a programmer or just use the stock computer and get a program? What cams seem to work best in your opinion? I did a cam chest kit on my Evo but that was with dome pistons new heads cylinders the works. Is going with just cams on this the way to go or would it lead to increased pressure and need new calves and springs and all? Thanks for the input.
If you only decat the header, nothing more, no need to change the map, tune.
Several bolt in cams available. For 103's cr570-2, tw222 and Andrews 57's are popular and all work well. No headwork required. Definitely need a tuner like Power Vision. And get some "proven" mufflers with some back pressure. Fullsac 2" or 1.75" baffle kits or Kury Crusher Mellows. Dont go with 2 1/2" baffles you will lose low end and get possible reversion. And of course a hi flo a/c. You will also need inner cam bearings, adjustable p-rods and lifters.
I agree with veek. Call Fuel moto. I went with true duals, pv tuner thru them, and Rinehart exhausts. I want a well running machine not something crazy loud........ Just my preferences and .02.
I had the same bike, FWIW I decatted the head pipe, put 4" Rhineharts, Andrew 57H cam and at the time the SE tuner.
Could not be happier. Bike had tons of Tq, good fuel milage rode like a Caddy. Just a thought.
Thanks, I was looking at the threads on that last night. I'm going to check this week if it's been done. All the work was at the dealer before now so it should be a phone call.
the 2012 is not part of the recall but definitely can have the problem. My 12 just had the hard brake problem but I had to pay out of pocket. Mine cost an arm and a leg because the abs module was bad because of it. If they can't confirm that the brakes have been flushed recently, then get it in and get it done. Hopefully i it will just be a flush.
I don’t know if I made the right choices yet but after doing quite a bit of research I decided on this. V&H 450 Titan slip on mufflers, V&H Dresser Duels, Arlen Ness Big Sucker, V&H Fuelpak3. One consideration was getting everything from the same manufacturer so I may be less likely to run into a conflict or fit problems. I have all the parts except the headers which show tomorrow, then I’ll be bolting it all on. I’ll probably post my results once I see how it turns out. On thing I have discovered about myself is I don’t like spending $1000 and end up with something I’m not really happy with. I’ll spend the extra to make sure I’ll have no regrets.

Agreed on not wanting to spend the money to find out it was a mistake. I am pretty sure the way I'm going is Andrews cams, Reinhardt true duals, the PV programepr, and the big sucker. I have to put it all off till after an up coming deployment so the money works, according to the wife. I got a set of used V&H slip ons from a buddy for free. That allowed me to actually hear my RPMs on the SoCal highways instead of constantly looking down while working through traffic. For all the parts I'm looking at the total is a little under 3k from FM as recommend from several on this forum. I'll then have to check if any of that voids my warranty and if I can do the work myself without voiding it. Good luck with your set up.
I had V&H on my old bike with some cams and other goodies, it ran great so when i went to order the exhaust for my current bike the parts guy suggested that I steer clear of V&H due to some chrome issues, he said they will stand behind it but you go weeks without a bike while it's being mailed back and forth.
I ended up with Rineharts and couldn't be happier, they seem to have a deeper sound and the performance has been great. I did full exhaust true duals with a tuner, mine already had the SE air cleaner so no change there.

The used VH slip ons my buddy gave me had some chrome coming of but they were free99 so they'll do for now.
