bike runs rich where it smells like a real motor..i love that smell in the morning...
Agreed... I grew up in the 1960s in a very rural area of SD in the northern great plains, the smell always reminds me of Dad warming up the old car on a cold winter morning before driving us to school...
Oil with fans or at least a oil cooler. Makes a huge difference if u want the bike to run the same all the time. Even my 88 needs one I don't care what some say that you don't need it. It helps keep the motor from getting all clattering in the heat. I also have the head coolers and wait till they shut off before restart, drives my gal nuts sometimes. Today took a while at gas station being it's over 90°F, got off interstate then had a red light or two and the oil cooler fans kicked on head fans been on most the day. Also did DK custom trick with only one crotch gaurd on the right to flow air around rear cylinder, this keeps motor cooler and my ecm is on that side.

A stage one with SE super tuner biased as rich as possible cooled mine down a lot. Doesn't get great mileage and smells a bit like my Dad's old oldsmobile with the choke pulled out, but runs great.
hey theres the post Ive been looking for. 09 ultra classic, 501g cams, SE slip ons, SE super tuner pro, I havent noticed the engine getting very hot & the EITMS has never kicked in even tho Im in AZ & riding in 107 degrees in traffic. Only gets 30-32mpg but I assume thats to keep in running cooler.
Hey there GhostRider, Im in Gilbert AZ & Im hearing alot of top end noise w belray 20w-50. Im considering some type of 20w-60 or 25w-60 next oil change. Was gonna do redline in the tranny but went w belray big twin & she's shifting just fine.

Hey Pantera, I never tried with Belray oil, before my Harley I had a Kawasaki Vulcan VN1700 Nomad with the worst tranny whine I ever heard! The only oil that helped a bit with the whining was the Red Line 20W60 and so far I am very happy with Red Line on all 3 holes on my Harley. For my VMAX 1700 I use Amsoil products
