Well, guys...I did it! Took off the air deflectors and that seemed to help. Then took the lowers off per your instructions and all I can say is...it looks beautiful! *S* Unfortunately, it started raining in the 10 minutes it took me to remove the fairings and I didn't feel like polishing again since I had just detailed the day before! Polished the chrome that was goobered up by the clamps and just stood back with my beer and admired! I'm thinking it's really gonna help but time will tell. Thanks again for the advise...and I think I'll save my $90 for the tons of other stuff I wanna toy with!
Piece of pie!! Easy as cake!!! Open the glove box and remove the two nuts. Remove the torx screw from the bottom of the fairing, and off they come. Pegs work fine on the crash bar, and BTW, it is MUUUUUCCCHHH cooler. Just got back from a ride to the dragon from the western part of TN.....very comfy during stop and go traffic in Gatlinburg.
I agree & never have them on during the summer months, it also permits you to give them a good clear up.
Thanks for the thread and the info guys, just took my lowers off my 2 month old Ultra...rides nice with some extra air flow. As you all stated, it was a piece-o-cake, all of maybe 5 minutes to get them off.
Bike don't look too darn bad without 'em either.

HeyOld95,that is onesweet looking ride. Nicely done!
You really won't get that much more air ... but you will get more noise. Really not much cooler either. Then you'll have to buy an amplifier for your stereo.
Panhead, do you really think you don't get more air?! The first time I rode after I took mine off, I started looking around for loose items thinking something was wrong! I had forgotten the feel of wind against the legs and on the chest!LOL I haven't had any need to amp my stereo and even faded it more to the back. Fo' me, it's like riding an entire different bike! Everyone's different tho. Larry, I'll take that beer now!
This allgood info thanks but does anyone know what the shape of the nuts are inside the glove box? To get the right socket head - size and shape? Someone already posted 11mm but arent there different shaped ones? I dont want to strip them out.
