A buddy is having this done at an Indy shop as we speak. He went to the local HD dealer first and was qouted 12 hours labor.

I am sure I could have done the job myself, but there is 2500 miles of water between where I live and my bike so I try to minimize my down time when I am on the mainland with my bike. My OR dealer quoted $1400 including extended everything, even though I told them no one uses extensions for the KW 2+2s. I checked with a local Indy but they won't do any HD bar changes because of the ABS brake bleed issue, even though I told them it wouldn't be necessary. I headed out on a 4k mile trip last Spring with the stock bars - OUCH. Anthem HD, AZ did my bars with internal wiring, 5K service and $400 worth of LED upgrades for that same $1400. They only used the wiring extension. They delivered my bike to my friend's house before I returned from HI for the return trip to OR. Worth every penny to my neck and shoulders. The bars plus the MM Ohlins I installed at my friends house made the return trip much more pleasant. The 114 degree temp, not so much!

Just had an indy tell me it'd be ~$600 to change stock bars to 2+2 on my "new to me" 2016 Ultra Limited. IMO that's a little expensive but due to work schedule, I'll let him do it and I'll spend my time off riding instead of wrenching... just my 2 cents

To me its all about how the OP wants to spend his $'s. Its not a physically taxing job.... you can buy a wiring kit for $50 or so that matches the wire colors for you so the soldering wires is butt simple... the pulling wires is butt simple... screwing in the new clutch cable was a bit of a pain but maybe 5 or 10 minutes worth of a pain... I put on the new front brake line - had to pull the tank - two bolts in the front, two in the back, a quick release gas line and unplug the dash - again butt simple. I wanted my Indy to flush my brakes anyway so that was not an issue... Its just really not a big deal to do. That being said, there are many jobs that are not a big deal (like dishes) that folks just don't want to do.

Don't NOT do the job because you think it is technically over your head - I assure you it isn't, however if you just don't want to spend any time in that way, then pay someone. That person needs $'s too....

Just my .02

And with the rain we've been getting, the humidity is even higher it seems to me.

I will admit upfront that it isn't a job I would tackle, or even understand how to start it. But 8-12 hrs to take the fairing off and take off the old bars and put on new ones? That sounds like a LOT of 'padding" of hours to me. And by a certified HD mechanic? A full day of work to change bars?
Again, I'm not saying it isn't right, and I don't know what's involved in doing the work, but man, that sounds like a lot of time.

Don't know if you mentioned the bars you are installing or having installed but I love my KW 2+2 Narrow bars. I went to these from stock bars on my '14 Limited. As with a lot of my mods, it is something I wish I had done way sooner.

As far as your question, my indy installed them for $300. During the install, he had me come over to the shop to position the bars to where I wanted them and also the controls.
