My tire clearly says made in Brazil on it and states Max load capacity (908lb) at 40psi which is where I kept it. I'd hope if they intend it to have higher pressure they would mold that into the tire.
09+ bikes might be getting a German tire but my MU85B16 is not. Friend of mine has an 09 with an 888 and he told me it's cupped and noisy but it has lasted long enough to be worn out.
I did get in touch with Metzeler and they want to send me a call tag to send the tire back to them, so there's that.

Those words relating to max load are to meet a US spec and don't apply anywhere else. They are misleading and you have allowed yourself to be mislead! It means that at 40psi the the max load that should be applied to that tyre is 908lb, it does not mean that you SHOULD use 40psi. The actual load most of us will put on a rear tyre, on a vehicle which weighs less than that 908lb, is a good deal less.

I'm aware of what it means, I can read it well. I know that the weight of my bike, my big *** and my old lady are putting dern near that or better on the rear tire. Besides, having more air pressure than is necessarily required for a given load will not cause tire failure. Accelerated wear in the center and harsh ride, yeah, but not failure.
The pressure on the sidewall is the max pressure for that tire. It is safe to run that pressure but it may be too high for the weight it is actually carrying. All that means is the tire will wear quickly in the center tread and the tire will not last as many miles as it would otherwise.
I do run 40 on my rear tire (38 in front) and I generally get 10 to 12,000 miles on it. Running Dunlop Elite 3's.
That Metzeler looks like it has a broken belt, very dangerous to ride.
Claulk04, Thanks for the response, after your post,I cancelled my Metzler's and I'm thinking either Avon cobras or Dunlop American elites. Keep us posted on what Metzler does it will be interesting to see if they give you any tire. I have had Avon's, Metzler's and Dunlap's had them cup but nothing like that.I really don't want Metzler's made in Brazil. Anyway hope it works out for you.
I went with a Michelin C2 to match the front I already had. It's wearing pretty darn nicely with something around 10k on it if I recall correctly...I have it written down.
I'll report back once I hear more from Metzeler, or once I give up on them.
