My new 07 RKC broke down on me last week, I was told several diffrent things that was wrong with it. From putting diesel in the tank to bad valve. I found today that the problem wascaused from the sprocket spun on the cam shaft, and it was a defectice part. I was also told that this was very rare problem. I would like to know how rare. Has this happen before that you guys know of. Of coarse the dealer is taking care of me and there is no problem with that they loned me a rental bike.
I wonder why Harley has been plagued with so manyvalve train problems over the years? It seems like everytime they come out with a new engine or an engine modification they have trouble with the cams/cam bearings/lifters/etc.
I went to the dealer today to see my bike. I got to see the cam shaft. the gear acually was spinning frrly on the cam shaft, amazing. They are going to replace the other one also. They gave a rental bike also. It the same bike but with 5000 miles on it it rides very nice. I am hoping they do something else it really sucks to have faulty part on a inportant part of the engine, or any part on a new bike. I feal better that they are replacing both cams and not just the broken one.
Should I grow some ***** and ask for more stuff for my inconvience?
Well, you could ask if they'll convert your camshafts from chain to gear drive! This will permanently eliminate those cheezy plastic chain tensioners once and for all! Those are just more internal failures waiting to happen.

Gear driven cams are not without their problems...and it comes down to the install...properly done the lash and runnout are critical..if not @$%^&*
I don't think there is anything that if not done right, will create problems. But, I rather have gear driven cams compared to those chain drives any day. Those tensioners don't last more than 30k miles. They'll do more damage when they come apart. Plus, to have them inspected at 25k, is at your cost! This inspection is not covered by warranty.
