I'm a fan of my textile jacket from Harley. All black but the lettering is reflective when headlights hit it.
With the vents it works well in all conditions. Leave for work in the morning at 50 degrees and come home in afternoon at 80. Below 50 degrees I'll throw a thermal shirt on and stay plenty warm. Does well in rain. No 'break in' period like leather. Looks good whether on the bagger or the sportster. I'm trying to find out which model it is from Harley but being ten years old now, I can't remember off top of my head.
Put me in the textile group. They are more versatile, lighter and waterproof. It's nice to just pack the liner instead of a whole separate jacket. With the venting they are cooler in the hot weather. I have 4 leather and 3 textile jackets. Weekend riding often times intake the leather but the bags are empty if I want to take it off. The leather takes up the majority of one bag. Touring I will take the textile and pack the liners for it.
As stated the stuff from the euros is sized small. Sizing is a pita unless you're close to a 50 percentile build. I would go at least a whole size up . And as stated revzilla is a great place for pricing and returns.
First off I am proud to wear a Harley Branded jacket. I own 7 jackets all Harley from a limited edition leather down to their light weight for spring / fall riding.
That said I second the earlier post about "TEXTILE". I am getting away from leather more every day. It is heavy, it is cold and usually more expensive.
The wife and I purchased matching jackets for Christmas this last year. These are HD with all the logo's some don't like but they are AWESOME. The are water resistant, they have a warm removable inner liner, then they have several zipper air vents.
I left the day after Christmas for Florida and it was 37 degrees when we left and 54 degrees when we arrived at Amelia Island. Day two it was 50 degrees to 68 degrees. Day four we found 80 degrees in the everglades. I road back into NC on New Years eve and it was in the 30's once again. This jacket is awesome and i wore it every day of the ride. Zipped the inner liner out on day two, had all the vents open on day three and four. Had it all buttoned up for the return ride. Did not get to try it in the rain yet. At just over $200 bucks it is a good value.
Thanks so much! This is SUPER helpful EVERYONE. This will be the one, and Ill order from board tracker!!
You don't listen to Dad, huh. Just go on some forum and ask their opinion. Well, that;s actually a pretty good move. One thing about Revzilla is that they have a very good return policy. However, I don't know as you ought to be spending $500+ on your first jacket. As a new rider to touring, it will take a while for you to figure out what you really want.
if I hadnt listened to my dad I wouldnt have gone to HDforums in the first place 🤷🏻*♂️.... or got a HD, Kevlar jeans, etc for that matter.
I asked her before you emailed me back. Im impulsive 😊
That dainese doesnt look bad but.....z, bates, and langlitz do custom and vanson does off the rack amd custom. Z will be my next jacket. Maybe bates. Maybe both. Mine is a custom padded pocket columbia langlitz but your going to spend some money for that. At the 600$ price range id get a custom z or bates amd have race proven top notch gear.
