Good luck with the bike, good deals on the internet, if I found one I would have done the same as you.
Ahhh ... Long Island, born, raised spent all my life there and in around my home town in Southern Nassau County.
Great place to grown up decades ago, moved down south 12 years ago, and loving it here, also why I got into bikes, 2 hours to the coast and 2ish hours to the Smoky Mountians which I will be again, in just a few weeks. Take the bike there at least once a year for a week at a time.
Lots of fast moving riding here too as we enjoy traveling the interstates to get to our destinations.
In fact, in 2014 we left our Yamaha behind and rode home on the new Road King... *L* best vacation ever!
The Road King has surpassed every expectation and has been flawless so far. (no repairs)

I've purchased 3 bikes over the Internet over the last 9 years, 2 on eBay, and one from a private seller. No problems with the transactions or the bikes. YMMV.
If the bike is being sold by the dealership that it is claiming to be, you're good to go. Just think though how easy it would be to swipe some pictures and a VIN from another listing and find the name of a real dealership online as a scammer. Do you're homework on the dealership. I recently bought my 2016 street glide special out of state from a car dealership and I didn't even send my deposit through the number on the listing. I called the dealership directly (from the dealership's phone number shown on google maps) and asked the receptionist about making a deposit on the bike and who I had been talking to.
If you're buying from a private party out-of-state, it also can be done. In a out-of-state private party purchase, I'd be sure to do background check on the bike and I wouldn't send any funds until the selling party shows a picture of the title with my name written on it. It becomes easier if you are buying through ebay since they insure the sale up to $80,000 (if this is still true...it was as of a year ago).

Welp...Here she is. All worked out fine with the dealer. Bought my old bike off me for 2K and swapped them out. So I'm into this for a whopping 8 grand. It had a couple more minor scuffs on the bags than I was told but minimal and not worthy of complaining about for the price. I've taken it out for a four hour ride and a few shorties and all it good. It has a top end tick that makes me nervous but it seems like its normal....will post in "new member forum"

Story sounds similar to what a friend went through. He found it on eBay at a dealership. Indian dealer took it in on trade. He doesn't want any Harleys sitting in his store, so he puts them on eBay with markup for the fees just to get rid of them. Friend ended up getting a very nice bike for way under book value.
