removed tranny dip stick to add new fluid and it is broken. cannot find the broken piece inside tranny using scope.
scoped from top cover, drain hole and fill hole. the current length of dip stick is 2. how big of a problem could the potentially be? how long is the OEM tranny dip stick? 2013 FLHX.
any info is greatly appreciated.
This was a known issue w/that era's motor(s). I had two tranny sticks for my '09 FLHX...one to plug the hole (e.g. post saw'd off) & a 2nd to check fluid level. Hope you get the metal out...IMO - remove the side cover to crack 'er open & look for more damage.
Just looked at mine...it was steel (metal)
Broke mine off a couple of years ago when I forgot to remove it when doing some trans work...it broke right off at the top of the bottom of the cap. I didn't replace it...just put in a qt after draining it...
