You can not reuse the clamps at the crossover. This may be a good time to replace the plain black crossover hose with a braided stainless steel line and new hose clamps. No Big Deal.

Be sure to remove the fuel line from the petcock that Boardgaurd described. I did not on my 07 and the cheap plastic broke in it and.....$48 later I had to buy a new one. You can not really take the fuel line off per say w/o clamping the front fuel line (at least on an 07 Heritage).

It really does only take a few minutes.
need to raise mine also. manual says i have tpm "purge line and drain tank"-you're saying all i have to do is disconnect fuel line and then i can lift (after remv bolts of course)-just the one step????

Or a quick disconnect.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Can you elaborate on the quick disconnect. What exactly is this and where can it be purchased?

You can get one of these by e-mailing galvatron10@insightbb.com, his name is Troy and they are $37.00 shipped. Quality piece. When disconnected, it will not allow fuel to spill from the tank. Makes future tank removals a piece of cake.

I put the quick disconnect on as described earlier. The next time I removed the tank it sure made it easy and no mess or danger on gas spilling.
