Do you have a service manual? Very good troubleshooting guide contained within that.
If you do not have a manual, I'd begin buy pulling the connector at your ignition switch and check for voltage there. No voltage in run position then your problem is at the switch or before. If you do have voltage your problem is after the switch.
Make sure your security key fob has a new, good battery. I found out I can uses accessory on my bike with no key fob anywhere near the bike, but of course it will not start or turn over when in the run position until the key fob is close by.
I am not computer lliterate , in the old days, I would just jump the solenoid that would tell me EVERYTHING.
I am going to go out and hug my carburetor again.
Yeah I checked the voltage at the plug. Theres 12v at the plug coming to the ignition switch. I just replaced the switch yesterday. No key fobs. I even tried to bypass the switch with a jumper wire and nothing. I'm not real good with the electrical side. But I'm trying
You have to check with the starter switch engaged , same for across battery.
If you see no drop means two things-
1, - the switch, relay is not closing.
Or-
2, - The voltage drops too far (below 9.6) and nothing will happen
I believe the circuit breaker is under the seat attached to the frame. It should have a heavy gauge power wire to it coming from the battery. It is simple to test, it should have battery voltage on both posts. If it only has voltage on the battery side of it then it is bad.
Before you tear anything more apart I would check the relays as has been mentioned. It is common for these to go bad. Yours, if original, could be 13 years old. Switch the System and Starter relays and see if anything changes. I have had them go bad in my 08 RK and just last week one went bad in my buddies 09 RK. His pump would not prime but starter would turn over. Switched relays and it was the opposite condition. I changed all three and now carry an extra on the bike.
