How many miles ya got on the bike....fuel filter should be changed about 25K.........my pressure hose developed a pin hole leak at about 32K .....the pressure hose rubs against a brace in there rubbing a hole in it.....same symptoms you got.
"after stops in Sturgis". How many stops in Sturgis were there VS. how much operating time between stops to charge the battery after the stops. Multiple stops and no long charge time from the bike's system , you providing a "surface" charge to the battery. Then that minimal charge is removed on the next start and/or hard start. Heat is an enemy of batteries and limit their performance, add that to your upgrades and you are taxing the battery. Carry a small jumper unit when in that situation, just an idea.
One, could be a hole in your fuel line INSIDE the tank. (Mine did the exact same thing when hot)
Two, when you turn on the ignition, dont wait for it to prime, hit the START button right away.
this right here...the pc5 is powered by the injectors...if wait for the pump to stop the injectors have no power and neither does the pc5, you'll crank until the pump needs to run again then you'll get power to it but with everything else battling against you this could be your problem

Usually, if the bike cranks for a while without starting and while hot, there isn't enough oxygen in the cylinders to ignite the fuel. That's why if you hit the start button immediately after turning the ignition on, it will start. I usually just go ahead and turn the stop/run switch to run before I turn the ignition on. Then I energize the ignition and hit the start button without letting it prime and it will start right away. Seems like the efi bikes don't inject a smaller amount of fuel when hot and that's what makes them so hard to start.
Ran a load test on my battery. Turned on all accessories for 2 min to burn off. Then started it and the battery while starting didnt jump below 10v, but it never climbed above 12.34v. Let it run for about 5 min no change in voltage. Sounds like the charging system. Agree??
