Default Hose Question

2014 Ultra Limited

While washing the bike tonight I noticed that this little hose did not appear to be connected to anything. I can not remember if it had been.

It also appears to be in bad shape. Is this little hose important to the bikes operation? I am little freaked out that if this hose breaks off the rest of the way will water damage any internal workings of what it is connected to?

Sorry for my ignorance on this matter.

Thanks Olowrider1 for the quick reply.

It is cracked and looks like it ready to fall off. Do you think I need to get it replaced? And if so I wonder if requires a tear down?

Thanks again!!!

It will be under $10. I think I had to take the screws out of the chrome trans cover and push the new hose through from the bottom. It was easy.

Thanks for all the replies. With the angle of some of the bolts and the removal of the exhaust to get to them on mine I am having this job done for me. Gonna cost me $60.00 - $100.00 parts/labor out the door. Way cheaper than the aggravation it may cause me. I am not mechanically inclined. I change my own oils but I think that is the limit for me.

Thanks again for all the help!!

I wouldn't spend that much to replace it. I wouldn't replace it at all. It's simply a vent hose to allow the transmission to breath and keep water out. About the most I would do is twist it by hand and make the open end point down. If you are concerned at all, pull the dipstick on the trans and check for water in the oil. No water, then the hose is working just fine. Save your money. It's not necessary to change it. It holds no pressure or will ever leak. Simply blocks water from entering the transmission vent.

It will keep water out of the transmission as long as he doesnt decide to go snorkeling with his M/C
if he really wanted to get pro-active he could extend the hose and put a small filter on the end, but these bikes generally do not puke oil like the Evo's of yore.
