Hi guys, going on vacation w/ family. I'll be towing my ultra and another sportster. O K don't need any imput from the "real HD die hards" It's either trailer or leave her at home. Any way we are going to ride some and trailer some on the way. north carolina to branson ms. My question is what is a good & cheap CB Radio for the tow vehicle to have for talking back and forth? Radio shack has one for about 59.95, but also nee to know about an anntenna--magnet mount or mount on glass? any advice is very much appreciated!
How bout a Walkie Talkie that only uses channel 14 I think...maybe cost about 25 $$$ from Radio Shack or placees like it. Only has ashort distance but the rider can talk to the vehicle pretty good...we used it many times while traveling with chase vehicles.
Most any CB will work, just get a decent magnetic antenna. You probably will probably not be far apart and a ewalkie taqlkie on an external antenna will work.
Radio Shack sells, at least they use to, a neat little Midland Emergency CB that comes with a magnetic telescopic antenna. Its got 40 channels and just plugs into the cigarette lighter for power...I got one and carry it in my cars trunk for those 'just-in-case' incidents that always seem to pop up...
I have played around with two different brands of walkie talkies on channel 14 and can't get them to work with my CB. Now granted I haven't used the CB to talk to another bike yet which is my next step. But it can't be that hard (or is it defective?).
So CB on 14, walkies on 14 while right next to the bike.Transmit with both sides (not at same time of course). Nothing! What am I missing here?
