I have the Vance and Hines Screamin Eagles 4" slip on's. I don't like loud either. These have a nice quite rumble to them but when you twist the throttle they have a nice bark to them. I'm 63 and my loud pipe days are done. Good luck.
i have the Magnaflow Hitman 4.5, my friends say it sounds like a big V8 muscle car idling, these are the deepest i have heard so far, my bike is an M8 with stock decatted header
After all of the Youtube videos.. what peaked my interest was the Magnaflow... I know them for the Vette stuff but they did sound deep an if I had ot go with One exhaust after listening to the much vaunted YouTube.. I would go Magnaflow. I dont want to do this 2-3-4 times :-)
Just got back from a test ride of my freshly-installed Kuryakyn Crusher Mellows. I think I've finally found the perfect muffler for me.
I started off with S/E Street Cannons (didn't sound good after I switched to an S&S header). Then I tried Bassani DNT's. Nice deep rumble, sound level started off OK but became too loud after they broke in. Plus my dyno tuner found they were hard to work with - produced a dip in the torque curve from 1800-2300 rpm no matter what he did.
So after listening to some sound clips on YouTube and looking at forum members' reviews I decided to try the Crusher Mellows. Nice deep sound like the DNT's with less dB's. And, they look to be very well made. Not sure who makes these for Kuryakyn, but they did a good job.

Thanks, I look into these as well, and in the upcoming well and I will try to make it to a few rallies and listen to exhaust as well, I travel a lot so the weekdays are not available for poking around unfortunately.
Almost anything in the 4" or better mufflers is going to be more deep than loud. I had V&H monster rounds on my 09 with their headers and it was very deep sounding. It would set off car alarms at times. I would be reluctant to recommend them because of quality issues though.
How does that work, if I want a dummy pipe for the empty side? Do some mfg'rs sell a dummy pipe?
D&D sells a ghost pipe. The sound of a 2:1 is different though. I strongly suggest you get a listen to them before going that route. A guy I ride with has the D&D and the sound is not something that I would want to have on my bike.
