Default Need help with Probeam LED Turn Signals

Started to install the Probeam LED turn signals for my bike that arrived today. They are supposed to be the model that fits a 2014 FLHTK. Easy install but the left side doesn't work - neither the running light LEDs or the turn signal LEDs. I switched the units left to right and right to left. The left side still didn't work, but the right side still did. The problem seems to be the left housing when an LED unit is installed. Took the Probeam units off, put the stock incandescent bulbs back in, they worked fine on both sides. Compared the incandescent bulb bases to the LED unit bases, they appear to have the same dimensions and fitment. I also followed the CANBUS acclimation process for 3-5 minutes, twice. No luck. Any ideas? I'll be calling Custom Dynamics tech support tomorrow, but I am anxious to get them working. Thanks!

Could polarity of the socket be the problem? https://www.customdynamics.com/videos

The polarity of the socket or the replacement LED is backwards. Try moving the LED from the left side to the right side, if the problem persists on the same side, the bike plug polarity is likely reversed. If the problem moves to the other side, the LED polarity is likely reversed.

Hey AussieDog,

Like Vernal and skid_pimp said, you most likely have a reverse polarity issue. Basically, Harley-Davidson will sometimes wire the turn signal sockets backwards, which doesn't matter with incandescent bulbs, but will prevent LEDs from lighting up. Check out this video, or just give us a call at 800-382-1388 and we'll sort it out.

Yep, cut and reversed the wires on both my rear signals and all was well in the world. A simple check with a volt / ohm meter confirmed the problem.
Union workers strike again? LOL
At least there wasn't a cigarette butt and a hammer under the lens cover!
Now, where did my hammer go? I had it a second ago.

Default Thanks!

Thanks to all for the help. It was the polarity on the left front turn signal. Watched the video a couple times, then talked with Custom Dynamics tech. Went ahead and cut the yellow & black wires, then soldered them. All is good now. The only thing that caused a little difficulty when checking polarity was this - I checked for turn signal power to the bulb HOUSING and got none. There is actually a little spring loaded tang on the side of the housing and that is what I actually needed to check. I couldn't see it until I got my mechanics mirror and flashlight down there. Still a little perplexed that Harley Davidson randomly wires up turn signals!

They don't mean to, although it can happen on occasion, in any manufacturing process, especially if it is a lighting circuit that uses incandescent bulbs. You will occasionally see it in indication circuits that use digital readouts as well because they won't show the negativity, whereas a dial gauge will turn the wrong direction. I have seen in it in building wiring as well on occasion. Typically any other type of circuit that gets wired backwards will show itself during the initial power on checks.
