I have a 07 RK with security, and was wonder is it a good ideal to install a siren on it. The dealers say all it does is sound off every time I walk pass the bike. Does anybody have one one there scoot?
the dealer is full of it. the '07s are a bit less sensitive than the earlier models. i would recommend getting the alarm/siren (actually a chirper). get the smart siren II that has the antenna built in so that if in the future you decide to get the pager which alerts you up to 1/2 mile away, you will already have the right siren. think the price is about the same. certinaly nothing you do will prevent the determined ******* from stealing your scoot, but this does help with other than the pros.
without the siren, all you get is the ignition disable and the lights flash. kinda like a deaf mute trying to tell you your house is on fire!
Actually, the sensitivity of the alarm is adjustable, so "just walking by" doesn't set it off.
I haven't been able to set mine to go off by just walking by or even slightly nudging the bike. I requires an intentional move of the bike, I.E. attempt to turn the forks or stand the bike upright.
the '07s aren't adjustable like the '06s were. on the '07 you can bump the bike and the alarm likely won't go off. stand it up or mess with the ignition and it goes off. again, its just another measure to help keep your bike where you left it.

Damn GMan, I almost wet my pants on that one! [sm=funnypostabove.gif]
I have an '03 UC and I bought the siren for it and love it. No, it won't help much if someone is hell bent on stealing the bike but it is a deterrent to those who might like to "fug" with your bike. I have mine adjusted so if someone jiggles or rocks the bike, it will not go off but it will chirp to warn them. Sometimes this is all it takes to get their attention and/or scare them. Too bad if the '07's aren't adjustable.....I guess the norm if is something is a good idea, it works goodand people like it, then do away with it (??)...!

Same experience...
Bright lights and noise always a great deterent to "FEREL MAN". Dirtbags are LAZY, not STUPID. If your bike makes noise they'll just move on to the one that doesn't.
Could also leave a note on yer scoot directing them to a neighbor who has a bike but is an avid "Anti-Gun NUT"; reminding the dirtbag that it is always better to pick on "soft bellied easy prey"[8D]JUST JOKING... WE'RE ALL FAMILY AND SOME JUST HAVE TO PROTECT OTHERS[sm=violent053.gif]
