Can't figure how Moco can continually produce these machines like this when Yamaha came out with their V-TwinAir Cooled Road Star with no Cat in the exhaust, stock motorcycle and no heat problems whatsoever for the rider.. I jump on mine whenever I get frustrated with my ultra which has been a lot lately. Seriously looking at their new v-twin tourer.
What's really frustrating to me is that with all the years that have passed with the twinkie engines, no one has come up with a real solution to the heat problem. And I am tired of hearing from the HD faithful that you get used to the heat? Are you kidding me? I don't care if I destroy the rear cylinder on my bike if that's what it takes to make the bike comfortable to ride while it does.
So ...you have an ultra classic ..air cooled motor...and trying to ride it in stop and go traffic in the summer time , with all the fairings and lower's in place (these are designed to keep the heat in)
.....yup !!! you gonna feel the HEAT ...
what you are riding is an open road , super slab , touring back road (no traffic) , cool to cold weather (fairings and lower's) , bike ...
try removing the lower's in summer time..(for more air flow out ).stay out of traffic ...keep moving ..(limit idling time ) ...or ...go by a yamasuki...because ....well ...maybe the real problem is the nut holding the handle bars on ...

As usual, there's always one jerk in the crowd that feels offended when someone questions their motorcycle brand. Instead of trying to help the op out in a mature way, they resort to well, whatever.
Anyway, I am looking at these pipes from Basanni as a possible solution. Am I just transferring the heat problem front the right side to the left especially for the passenger? https://www.bassanipipes.com/powercu...rbagger-3.aspx
Here's a couple of pics of the right and left view of the pipes.
Also, I have passenger highway pegs that may get in the way of the left side pipe? It's in the rear position in the pic but rotates forward for the passenger for extended comfort. The bracket for these passenger highway pegs clamp on to the passenger foot board brackets between the floor boards and the bike frame.
I installed a set of Freedom Performance True Dual headers on my '15 CVO and the right side heat went way down. Tried the Fullsac header without the Cat and noticed little change in temps. Hope this helps.
