Default 2 questions in one thread

Im the proud owner of an '07 EGS. I have a couple questions.

#1. How do your 'ladies' feel about backrest height? I went with the 'short' when I bought the bike....thought was all 'ME' having to swing my 50 yr old leg over it...lol. Now Im thinking I should have gone with the medium or even tall for a passenger.

#2. You guys withpassenger handrails...how do they affect your passengers that have 'bigger' hips? (I ask this for "FUTURE" reference)

I mean no offense...and hope none is taken. Im also hoping yall will understand my thinking....they (passengers)might be uncomfortable on a long haul.

Thanks in advance..

My wife won't get on the back of my bike so.........But I dohave the wrap around back rest on the tour pack.
I put the hand rails on my bike for my stepdaughter. They are well below the seat and shouldn't come into play unless you put a Elephant on the back.
EDIT: This might help.

I don't have the grab rail. The wife just grabs me.I went with the tall pass backrest. My wife is short, but she wont even get on the bike unless I put the back rest on. She did the first day we had the bike, and spent the whole ride sliding herself back onto the seat. Now, my chance of her falling off is out the window.[:@]

I had the medium height detachable backrest on my RK. The wife never complained until she sat on a bike with the tall backrest. The added height made all the difference in the world in being more comfortable. It fits the curve of her back better.

BTW she is 5' 6" tall.

I put them on the Ultra and the wife and grand kids love them. Sometimes the wife wears pants that are slick/slides easily and the hand rails act as curb feelers to keep her centered on the bike. On twisties or stopping quickly she uses them a lot. She has not had a problem with them getting in the way or setting on them.

I went with the medium passenger backrest on the dealers recommendation.
My wife wants the tall backrest now that we've ridden a few thousand miles.
The stock (passenger half)of the seat on the EG models is thicker than some of the other touring models.
I guess the extra 2 1/2 " height of the Tall backrest would feel better to her.
I asked her if she'd like the grab rails , and she said no , she likes to hang on to me.
The tall rest also opens up more luggage mounting possibilities than the short or medium.
I will keep the luggage rack that mounts to the backrest , as that works very well for us also.
Gives me the ability to remove both in seconds if I don't want either when I ride alone.
