Hello Harley Forum
i bought a new 2018 FLTRXS 8/29/2018. And have had some issues with the security system activating. 2 days after buying the system activated while out of town. Entered the bypass code a couple times with the screen going blank the first time while attempting finally working after a couple trys. HD put new batteries good to go.... 2nd time within a week of last issue. HD came and got the bike. Checked the electrical system no issues found. Brought it home. The same day went to go for a ride and it happened again! Next day went to drive it to the HD the system worked...... They've tried to replicate it with no success. This is the third time in less than two weeks. Still at HD can't find out what's up......
what should I do??
When the problem happens is the fob in the same pocket as your cell phone? Might try moving it around just for the heck of it. Also just for fun you might replace the battery in the fob. Mine occasionally doesn't see the fob but I just assumed the battery is going bad.
I had the same problem with my 2016 Street Glide. I removed the battery and reinstalled it. Had no problems. Doing this is like rebooting the system, I think. If the problem continues get Harley to replace the fobs. If that doesn't work . The problem is in the computer,
I had a similar problem but only with one fob so I changed the fob battery and no joy. I then opened the fob and GENTLY bent the contacts to give better contact. Problem solved.
cgurro, I dont know if you checked but try the other fob and see if you are having problems while using that one as well. If it's doing it with both fobs ,chances are it's not a fob issue and at least you can rule that out.
