Default Progressive 440 Shocks

Has anyone used a Progressive 440 Shock on a 2010 or newer tour bike?

I have 444's on my 2009 Streetglide. I don't know what the difference is. I really like mine. No more bottoming out and by adjusting the preload it rides well with one rider or two

The 440, and what it's currently called, the 444 are an excellent "off the shelf" bolt on shock to upgrade from the junk that comes stock. Pay attention to the weight specs. If your not in the heavy duty range, don't buy the heavy duty versions unless you like a harsh ride. Bitubo is also an option for similar or less money, and Ohlins are a great high end alternative. I've run many 440 shocks on many bikes. I have never been disapointed with either the shock or the customers service. They won't be as good as a custom built shock, but they are still a whole lot better than stock. And..... Come with a lifetime warranty.

I was asking because there’s a guy that he has some 440’s he had on a 09 Roadglide that he wants to Sale. Which I called Progressive and they said they discontinued the 440’s, which the newer version is the 444’s. I may go ahead a pull the trigger and buy them.

Check them very closely for leaks. If they don't have oily residue, and you can get them for dirt cheap, yeah. But remember, they are likely almost 10 years old. I wouldn't pay much.

I picked up a used set cheap an I'm very happy with them. I had a set of the premium hand adjustables on an they were an improvement over the air shocks IMO. they both handled the minor stuff well but the progressives handle the big bumps better....both are 12" shocks.

I have them on my 13 Streetglide no issues and work great for me. mine have the heavy duty springs on them too. On the spring itself you will see some numbers painted on them on one of the coils. That will tell you by those numbers if they are heavy duty springs or standard.

While I've not run 440s on the 09 up bikes, I've run them on a 02 FLHRC and 07 FLHTC. One thing to note is that the lifetime warranty is only good for the original purchaser. They are an OK shock but don't know how they compare to the 444s. I understand that the valving was improved on the 444s. I weight about 185 and the 440 heavies were way too stiff on the FLHTC so I was able to swap them for regulars. After about 30K on the 02 FLHRC they started to leak, Since I bought them used (low miles and looked new), I found that they weren't rebuildable and obsolete.

The numbers on the coil springs are 03-1320 and 65/205
