Default top end project

2008 Ultra Classic with 61,000. When I back off the throttle I can smell some oil burn. not a lot but enough to know I have to do something. I want to get the heads reconditioned and the jugs punched out for new pistons. Who is good for either exchanges or turning around my own stuff? Not looking to do any performance work at this time so I want to stay in the stock vicinity.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Oil burn? Are you sure? Remember that when you back off the throttle some of crankcase breather fumes can escape thru the A/C into the air. Maybe that's what you smell. Otherwise how would you be able to smell oil from the exhaust while the bike is moving?

This just started very recently and I cant explain why I smell that only when I back off the throttle. Im thinking that at 60,000 miles it may be ready regardless.

The real question is "how much oil are you using ?"
Next, you need a leak dwn test.
Knee jerk reactions will cost you a LOT of money!
It might be a new set of valve stem seals would fix you.
That's 12 bucks compared to at least 2K when you get done with the valve job.

Woah there! You have a hunch that something may possibly be wrong? Howabout checking this and getting a definitive diagnosis? You wouldn't have a leg cut off just because you think it may be crook! Visit your local friendly dealer or an indy and get them to check your bike over.

If on the other hand you really want an excuse to do a top-end tune-up then decide what you want to achieve and contact one of our highly respected HDF sponsors for a suitable tuning package.

Piston/rings/cylinder issues result in burning oil usually on accel, not decel. Valve guides and seals will pull oil into the cylinder on decel.
