Default Dimming Dash Lights?

Can it be done? Not the Infotainment screen. The four analog gauges at the top of the fairing. Mine do not dim with the Infotainment screen and are super bright at night.

I put light blue LEDs in my gauges to soften the light output. I may pull the speedo and tach through the winter and turn them blue as well (going to read some more to see if they can be sealed properly after separation - we get a lot of rain here), I find blue light is much easier on the eyes in the dark.

i bought those bulbs for the dash, couldn’t find how to put them in the speedometer and tack, so mine is mismatched like yours. Driving me crazy at night.

The speedo and tach are not properly sealed anyway, have a search around for cleaning the glass and you'll find a guide on how to open the units up - they need to have air flow to stop misting/condensation etc.

You will need to open up the speedo and then remove the small LEDs by soldering. I may get an electrician friend to do the soldering for me, as I usually make a bit of a mess doing it. I'll be ripping into the dash this winter anyways, so I may as well finish off the blue lights, will probably make the needles red.

Off topic already folks, I am asking if your guages dim from the factory, not how to dim them by modding. Again, the Infotainment screen automattically at night, but the 4 main guages (speedo, tack, fuel, oul pressure) do not dim. Does yours?

You, and others, may want to check the studies done on light color in gauges in cars. I think blue is the color that makes you the most alert. One study (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...ert-wheel.html) says that just having a blue light shining at you is as effective at keeping you awake as a cup of coffee. Though, I thought I saw another study that said pretty much the opposite. Who knows? Most of them, though, I think, say that orange/red lights are the worst at making you sleepy, and yet that's what almost EVERY car maker uses for their gauges.

Just having friendly discussion on your vague question. Now that you have shown you don't give a crap except anything you want to hear after you pontificated your needs, to answer your question - you can add rheostats to adjust the brightness as you see fit. <---happy now?
