Default Strange noise when clutch is engaged

2009 flhtcu, My bike started to make a noise on the way home from work when I pull the clutch. It sounds like the starter is trying to engage. Any clues?

I would start by checking the following:
  • Clutch adjustment
  • Primary Chain Adjustment
    • Inspect tensioner shoe
  • Primary Oil Level
  • Transmission Oil Level
A Service Manual will be very helpful as you go through your inspections and adjustments.

I was able to isolate the problem. Once I started the bike I unplugged the starter solenoid. Rode it for 20 miles and no problems. I believe the problem to be in the switches or harness.

A 2009 police bike, from my former department, did the same thing one time years ago. If I remember right, I sprayed some silicone in the starter switch and button locations on the switch housing, worked the switch and button a number of times (shut off of course) and it never came back.

Definitely NOT intuitive in that the clutch lever is on the left and all of the start and run switches are on the right. Any evidence of chafed wiring around the steering head?
